Our Programs
Preschool
Our Montessori- and Waldorf-inspired preschool program for ages 2.5 to 6 years old offers a hands-on approach to learning. During our Montessori Time, your child will engage with core curriculum in a hands-on and child-directed way. During our Waldorf Time, your child will enjoy a Circle Time as a group filled with song, poetry, and a story. Each day, we will also do a daily group activity together such as bread making or painting with watercolors. We also spend time plenty of time outdoors and at play.
Our private kindergarten program for children ages 5-6 is integrated into our mixed aged preschool. However, since our school is all developmentally based, your Kindergarten child will receive exactly the work he/she needs to exceed traditional Virginia State Kindergarten standards as well as a nurturing foundation with plenty of time for play and art. We provide a child-centered, hands-on approach to learning that prepares children for a successful transition to elementary school. With a focus on social-emotional development, literacy, math, culture, and nature, we provide a solid foundation for your child's academic and personal growth.

At Highland Hills, we offer a balanced day. We offer art, music, movement, animal, and nature learning which compliment our program.
