“Where wonder is nurtured and character takes root.”

At Highland Hills Montessori School, we believe early childhood is a time of wonder, discovery, and joyful learning. Nestled in the heart of Loudoun County, our home-based school offers a warm and nurturing environment where children ages 2.5–6 can flourish. While offering a beautiful Montessori education, our robust enrichment includes aspects of Waldorf philosophy throughout our full-day program.

Children are encouraged to follow their curiosity, build independence, and develop a deep love of learning through storytelling, art, music, outdoor play, and carefully prepared Montessori activities that meet each child at their unique stage of growth. With small class sizes, we cultivate strong academic foundations alongside kindness, resilience, and confidence, creating a school where childhood is cherished, creativity is celebrated, and learning feels like an adventure.

We invite you to experience the Highland Hills difference.

Our Model

Nature

Outdoor Learning

At Highland Hills, children enjoy exploring 6.5 acres of private forest land, playing, building, climbing, and the wonder of "being children."

Enrichment

Art, Baking, Play, Literature, & Character Development

Our warm, homelike enrichment environment includes three carefully curated indoor play spaces designed for open-ended, imaginative, and creative play with opportunities for both free play and group activities. We use these spaces before and after to compliment our time in the Montessori classroom. They inspire imagination, warmth, and curiosity through cozy, homemade toys, community seasonal activities including baking, cooking, handwork, and art.

We also place value on rich classical poems, literature, and reinforcing manners and habits that help shape character.

Montessori

Hands-On Learning

In our Montessori Classroom, our young preschoolers through first graders develop strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills with hands-on Montessori materials. Our prepared Montessori environment provides a beautiful foundation for life-long learning. We follow authentic Montessori standards with an AMI trained guide, multi-age classroom, uninterrupted work periods, all traditional Montessori areas and materials, and a curriculum rooted in science with over 100 years of proven success.
